Steptoe & Johnson adds Nicholson to Energy Transactional Team

Steptoe & Johnson PLLC has added Roger L. Nicholson to its Energy Transactional Team. A 25-year legal veteran who works with energy industry clients on commercial and transactional matters, he will practice in the firm’s Charleston, West Virginia, office.

Nicholson’s experience includes serving as both general counsel and outside counsel to publicly traded energy producing companies nationally. He has negotiated and drafted acquisitions and divestitures in the energy field; negotiated coal supply agreements; arbitrated commercial disputes, including lease and supply agreement disputes; and overseen public offerings of two energy producers. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Kentucky and West Virginia.

Nicholson earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College, in Georgetown, Kentucky. He is a trustee-at-large of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, and serves on the boards of directors for the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia and the Kentucky Coal Association.
