Statoil appoints COO

Statoil has appointed Anders Opedal as executive vice president, and he will take on a new position as COO in the corporate executive committee on April 1.

Opedal comes from the position as senior vice president of projects in Statoil’s Technology, Projects and Drilling business area. Previously, he has held a range of positions in drilling and well, procurement and projects. Opedal joined Statoil in 1997 as a petroleum engineer in the Statfjord operations.

Opedal has a Master of Business Administration degree from Heriot-Watt University and an engineering degree from NTH.
