Delfin LNG to establish headquarters in Houston

Delfin LNG LLC is establishing its headquarters in Houston, as the company prepares to launch the first deepwater liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporting in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Houston Business Journal.

The company’s plans include onshore gas compression facilities in Louisiana, a 42-inch pipeline to transport the LNG offshore, and a deepwater port with four floating LNG vessels about 50 miles offshore.

HBJ says that Delfin's Houston-based LNG export project would be the first to be located offshore, and that this deepwater port could be moved temporarily in the event of major hurricanes.

Delfin hopes to export up to 13 million tonnes per year, and to begin LNG exports in 2019.
