Midstates Petroleum names Eck as new EVP, COO

Midstates Petroleum Co. Inc. (NYSE:MPO) reports that Mark Eck has joined the company as executive vice president and COO.

Eck most recently worked for Samson Resources as vice president of business development, after previous roles as vice president of operations and midstream, and as Haynesville Team general manager. Prior to joining Samson, he served as the Tulsa, Oklahoma, regional business development manager at SM Energy and as supply chain manager.

Eck began his oil and gas career with ARCO Oil & Gas Co., serving in various engineering, operations, planning, procurement, and human resources roles over a 21-year career before leaving ARCO in 2000. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla, and Executive Education training at Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Midstates Petroleum is currently focused in the Mississippian Lime oil play in Oklahoma and on the Anadarko Basin in Texas and Oklahoma. The company's operations also include the Upper Gulf Coast tertiary trend in central Louisiana.
