Aberdeen, Scotland-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore hosted Conservative MEP for Scotland, Dr. Ian Duncan, on October 30, as part of a fact-finding mission into the oil and gas industry.
As part of his visit, Duncan toured Bibby Offshore's 50,000 sq ft workshop and warehouse facility, The Hangar.
Duncan also met with a staff, learning about Bibby Offshore and the work that goes on in the oil and gas industry.
“Ministerial visits are vital for the continued investment in the development of the energy industry, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome a Member of the European Parliament," said David Sheret, general manager – global business development of Bibby Offshore.
"Bibby Offshore is going from strength to strength and over the last decade we have grown considerably both nationally and internationally. This year alone we have opened a new base in Newcastle and Stavanger, Norway, with our activity in Houston is also increasing significantly due to the growing global demand for the company’s expertise," he continued.
Duncan’s visit also involved a discussion with Oonagh Werngren, Oil & Gas UK’s Operations Director, about the state of the industry, including an overview of the opportunities and challenges faced by the UKCS.
On his visit, Duncan commented, "As a former analyst at BP, I am incredibly interested in Scotland’s energy industry, and believe it to be one of our economic success stories. Bibby Offshore’s developments and accomplishments illustrate this success wholeheartedly, and being able to talk to the staff during the visit allowed me to witness the fantastic work that goes on in the industry."
