Sterling Global Operations has named Ian Pilcher as director of commercial accounts. Pilcher will lead the company’s growing business in the commercial oil and natural gas industry, mining sector, and other international businesses from his office in London.
“SGO works with companies worldwide in remote, high-hazard environments that bring challenges in logistics, communications, risk management and other needs that are difficult and costly for companies to meet themselves,” said Alan Weakley, SGO president and COO.
SGO has expanded its demining and unexploded ordnance removal services in support of oil and natural gas companies operating in former conflict areas, and risk management for the mining industry, said Pilcher, a United Kingdom native and graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
“SGO has an extraordinary range of services to solve problems for clients, providing SGO’s services – in addition to demining and munitions response – include (with subsets of each), intelligence support; risk management; communications; life support, and construction,” he said.
In addition to Sandhurst, Pilcher is a graduate of the British Army Command and Staff Course and the University of London with a Bachelor of Science degree in geography and geology. He has worked throughout Europe, the Mideast, Far East, and Africa for major international companies in roles including vice president of business development of the Olive Group, managing director at G4S Oilfield Services; regional manager for West Africa with ArmorGroup, and director of consulting for ArmorGroup. Pilcher served in the Balkans, North Africa and Northern Ireland during his 10 years of service as a British army officer.
