TransAtlantic Petroleum Ltd. (NYSE-MKT:TAT) (TSX:TNP) expects to be added to a Russell Index effective June 30, according to a preliminary list of additions posted on the Russell Index website.
The company also announced that its board of directors has approved Harold "Lee" Muncy as vice president of geosciences. In addition, TransAtlantic's board of directors has accepted the resignation of Jeffrey S. Mecom, who is vice president of Legal and corporate secretary, and expects to appoint Matthew W. McCann as general counsel and corporate secretary on or before Sept. 8. Mecom plans to remain at the company in an advisory capacity through Sept. 8.
Muncy served as vice president of exploration for the Bass Companies, a group of Fort Worth, Texas-based independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies, where he worked from 2000 to 2012. He brings more than 35 years of geological experience in the oil and natural gas industry, where he has focused on exploration, exploitation, and worldwide transactions. He began his career as a geologist with Mobil Oil Corp. and served as exploration manager for Fina Oil & Chemical Co. and as vice president of exploration and land for TransTexas Gas Corp. Muncy earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology and mineralogy from Ohio State University.
McCann has served as counsel for Riata Corporate Group and as a business development specialist for Longfellow Energy LP. From 2009 to 2011, he served as CEO of TransAtlantic. Prior to joining Riata and Longfellow, McCann served as senior vice president, Legal, and corporate secretary for SandRidge Energy Inc. He began his legal career at Sprouse Shrader Smith PLLC in Amarillo, Texas. McCann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business Administration from the University of Vermont, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
