CARBO elects Deaton to board of directors

CARBO Ceramics Inc.

CARBO Ceramics Inc. (NYSE: CRR) has elected Chad Deaton as an additional member of the company’s board of directors.

Deaton previously served as executive chairman of the board of Baker Hughes Inc. from January 2012 until his retirement in April 2013. Prior to that, he served as chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes from 2004 until January 2012. Deaton also previously served as a director of CARBO from 2004 until 2009.

He has been appointed to the board’s committees on compensation, audit, and nominating and corporate governance.

Before joining Baker Hughes in 2004, Deaton was president and CEO of Hanover Compressor Co. from 2002 through October 2004. He was a senior advisor to Schlumberger Oilfield Services from 1999 to September 2001, and was an executive vice president of that company from 1998 to 1999.

Deaton currently serves on the boards of Ariel Corp., Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Transocean Ltd., and, effective January 1, 2014, Marathon Oil Corp.
