SunGard names Leslie Barbagallo to lead energy and commodities business

SunGard has appointed Leslie Barbagallo as the chief operating officer for its energy and commodities business, with responsibility for SunGard’s energy trading and risk management (ETRM) solutions, data management, and related compliance and consulting solutions. She will be based in Houston.

Barbagallo has been with SunGard for seven years in a range of management responsibilities for energy, commodities, compliance, and equities trading solutions. Prior to SunGard, she was a head of sales and account management for another ETRM provider and chief operating officer for a utility consulting unit of KEMA, where she spent 11 years.

She holds a BA degree from Harvard and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

SunGard, with annual revenue of about $5 billion, has more than 20,000 employees and serves more than 25,000 customers in more than 70 countries and is the largest privately held business software and IT services company. SunGard’s energy and commodities group serves energy companies, corporate hedgers, hedge funds, and financial services firms in global energy and commodities markets by streamlining and integrating the trading, risk management, and operations of physical commodities and their associated financial instruments.
