Sharman retires from board as BG Group welcomes new CFO

Lord Sharman will retire from the board of BG Group plc at the conclusion of the company's Annual General Meeting to be held on May 12, 2011.

Sharman, 68, joined the board in October 2000 and served as chairman of the audit committee until December 2010, when he was succeeded by Mark Seligman.

Sharman’s retirement comes on the heels of another board change, that of the addition of Fabio de Oliveira Barbosa to the board in December. At that time, the company also announced Barbosa’s appointment as chief financial officer (CFO), effective March 31.

Ashley Almanza will leave his position on BG’s board of directors and as CFO of the company on March 31.
