ModuSpec founder Nagtegaal to step down in July

After 25 years in the offshore industry, Leo Nagtegaal will step down as the head of ModuSpec, a provider of innovative technical services that support the safety and integrity of drilling assets.

Effective July 1, Nagtegaal will be succeeded by Duco de Haan, a 17-year veteran of ModuSpec, the company that was wholly acquired in 2008 by Lloyd's Register.

Leo will assume a general advisory role for Lloyd’s Register and ModuSpec. In addition, he will assist with setting up the Lloyd’s Register Technical Centre in Singapore and will work closely with the National University of Singapore to develop graduate courses in rig and equipment reliability and safety.

Duco joined ModuSpec in 1994. He holds an Engineering degree in Energy Technology and a university degree in Maintenance and Safety Management. After working in various management positions within the ModuSpec Group, he was appointed senior vice president of Lloyd’s Register Energy Americas in May 2010.

"By adding ModuSpec to our energy business stream, Lloyd's Register strategically positioned itself in the drilling industry to fulfil our objective of actively sharing technical expertise with the upstream industry," said Richard Sadler, chief executive, Lloyd's Register.

"ModuSpec and Lloyd’s Register are fully committed to making the drilling industry safer, ensuring that the industry and society will continuously benefit from our global network of experts, extensive knowledge and customised solutions," he said.

Lloyd's Register has recently announced that Duco will hand over his duties in the Americas to Tim Protheroe, who is also leading the organization’s marine business in the region.

ModuSpec has its corporate headquarters (annex regional operating division) in the Netherlands, with other operating division / offices in the UK, the USA, Canada, Brazil, Singapore, and it's newest office in Australia.
