Maxsted replaces Boeckmann on BHP Billiton board

Melbourne, Australia-based mining and oil and gas company BHP Billiton has appointed Lindsay Maxsted as an independent non-executive director. Alan Boeckmann has retired from the board.

Maxsted is chairman of infrastructure company, Transurban Group, and a non-executive director of Westpac Banking Corp., where he is chairman of the audit committee and a member of the risk management committee. He was previously KPMG Australia CEO from January 2001 to December 2007.

The number of BHP Billiton board remains at 12.
