Danos awarded contract for Hess Stampede platform

Offshore staff

GRAY, LouisianaDanos says it has secured a contract to perform mechanical hook-up and commissioning support services for the Hess Stampede TLP in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Stampede deepwater oil and gas field is located approximately 115 miles south of Fourchon, Louisiana. It is estimated to be one of the largest undeveloped fields in the Gulf of Mexico, with estimated gross recoverable reserves in the range of 300-350 MMboe.

As part of the contract, more than 100 Danos employees will be working on the project across multiple locations over the next 12 months. A small project management team is in Houston planning the offshore scope and execution. Danos says that this team is working closely with other delivery areas to ensure a safe and successful facility start-up.

Currently, Stampede is in the integration and commissioning phase. Once complete, the platform will be towed to its final destination where Danos will support the hook-up and commissioning phases of the project.

Danos says it will provide support via several of its service lines, including project management, construction, scaffolding and coatings services. The company says it has successfully performed similar work for another recent deepwater platform in the Gulf of Mexico and has partnered with Hess on other offshore projects.
