Kongsberg, DSME cooperate on FLNG controls

KONGSBERG, Norway -- Kongsberg Maritime and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) have signed a joint development agreement (JDA) for a new LNG FSRU regasification control system.

DSME, which is building an FLNG vessel at its Okpo shipyard in South Korea, will develop a high fidelity dynamic simulator for the regasification plant.

The JDA allows DSME to use Kongsberg Maritime’s dynamic process simulator K-Spice and the K-Chief automation and control system for the joint development.

DSME has built nearly 100 LNG vessels, many of which operate with Kongsberg Maritime’s LNG control system on board, while Kongsberg Maritime has supplied over 200 LNG control system installations.
