Statoil issues Trestakk contracts, prepares to drill Cape Vulture

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has awarded two contracts for its Trestakk subsea tieback in the Norwegian Sea.

Trestakk is an oil and associated gas field located in block 6406/3, production license PL091, 27 km (16.8 mi) southeast of the Åsgard A production vessel in a water depth of around 300 m (984 ft).

The FMC Technologies/Technip alliance secured an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract, based on an optimized subsea field layout that arose from a front-end engineering and design study (FEED) by the FMC/Technip joint venture Forsys Subsea.

Technip will supply the flexible riser, production flowline, gas injection line, flexible jumpers, and umbilicals.

FMC Technologies will provide the subsea production system, comprising subsea trees and completion system, manifold, wellheads, subsea and topsides control systems, and tie-in hardware and tools.

FMC Technologies President and CEO Doug Pferdehirt said: “This award demonstrates that our alliance with Technip can deliver real benefits to customers by integrating our products, systems, and services.

Aker Solutions in Trondheim will modify the topsides at Åsgard A to receive oil and gas from Trestakk. The work will consist mainly of piping to connect the well stream to the vessel, and upgrading of the metering systems.

Elsewhere in the region, Statoil has received approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority consent to drill an exploration well in block 6608/10 and an optional side track on the Cape Vulture prospect.

The semisubmerible Deepsea Beregen will spud the 6608/10-17 S well in 375 m (1,230 ft) of water this month. Drilling could last 49 days if the initial result justifies the side track.
