MOSCOW – Lukoil has drilled the third production well on the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the northern Caspian Sea. The field entered production last month.

The company reports that the horizontal section of the well is 1,217 m (3,993 ft) long, with a flow of around 3,000 tons/d of crude oil. The field’s total oil production is currently about 9,000 tons/d.

The V. Filanovsky field, discovered by Lukoil in 2005, is the second field commissioned by the company in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. The field’s С1+С2 recoverable reserves, under the Russian classification, are estimated at 129 MM tons of crude oil and 30 bcm of gas. The annual oil production at the plateau is estimated at 6 MM tons.

The field is located about 220 km (137 mi) from Astrakhan in water depths ranging from 7 to 11 m (23 to 36 ft).
