DLV 2000 mobilizing for second Ichthys installations

HOUSTONMcDermott International’s new flagship derrick lay vessel, the DLV 2000, has completed its first campaign for the INPEX-operated Ichthys project offshore northern Australia.

This included lifting and placing one of the world’s largest subsea spools, at 42-in., with a lift weight of 550 tons.

The DLV 2000 will shortly mobilize back to the Ichthys project to install more spools and subsea structures and to lay infield umbilicals.

Off northwest Australia, the Woodside-operated Greater Western Flank Phase 2 pipeline project remains in the engineering and procurement phase, with the successful completion of double joint pipelay trials onboard the DLV 2000.

Work on ONGC’s Vashishta and S1 project is in the design engineering and procurement phase, with procured items starting to arrive at the fabrication yard in Kattupalli, India, owned and operated by McDermott’s consortium partner Larsen & Toubro Hydrocarbon Engineering.

Fabrication of the subsea structures is under way and installation engineering and preparations are progressing for the start of offshore operations, likely at the end of the year.

Offshore Brunei, McDermott has a three-year transportation and installation contract for Brunei Shell Petroleum. Activity has begun at the Ampa and Fairley fields with completion of the jacket face survey work due this current quarter.

A pre-installation survey should also start shortly, followed by the main pipeline transportation and installation work during 2Q 2017.

The company’s Batam yard in Indonesia has completed fabrication of subsea modules for the FMC Jangkrik project, with load-out scheduled for the end of October.

This summer the Altamira yard in Mexico completed fabrication of the 7,500-ton Ayatsil-C jacket for PEMEX ahead of schedule, with offshore installation imminent.

The DB50 has installed a jacket and deck in 300 ft (91.4 m) of water, 39 mi (62.7 km) off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago. The North Ocean 105 then sailed in to assist installation of nearly 13,000 ft (3,962 m) of 14-in. export flowline.
