The TSA-coated 30-in. OD diameter structure was installed in nine sections using eight sets of GMC’s high fatigue non-rotational caisson connectors.
All connections were made up quickly and effected first time. The company supplied sufficient handling tools to ensure continuous operations throughout the program, thereby avoiding the delays that can be encountered in caisson handling.
GMC’s approach is said to dispense with the need for offshore welding of caissons.
