ROTTERDAM, the NetherlandsSea Trucks Group has completed a pipelay and construction campaign for Chevron Nigeria’s Sonam field development.

West African Ventures Ltd., Sea Trucks’ principle Nigerian business, secured the contract last June.

Sonam is in shelf concession OML 91, Escravos Area, in water depths ranging from 7 m (23 ft) around Okan to 66 m (216 ft) at Sonam.

The work scope comprised:

  • Transportation and installation of the Okan PRP jacket, piles, deck, and bridge
  • Survey of the pipeline route and installation of a 32-km (19.9-mi), 20-in. pipeline between Sonam NWP and Okan PRP
  • Fabrication, load-out, and installation of risers and subsea spools for both facilities
  • Pre-commissioning and commissioning of the pipeline, including hydro-test, dewatering, drying and nitrogen purging.

Field installation started last November with the pre-lay survey.

Sea Trucks employed two of its DP-3 pipelay construction vessels Jascon 30 for the pipelay operations, and Jascon 25 for installation of the jacket, deck and bridge, with the construction barge Jascon 8 performing installation of subsea equipment and pre-commissioning activities.

Various other Sea Trucks tugs and barges supported the offshore campaign, which finished last month.
