MELBOURNE, AustraliaCue Energy says upgrades to the mooring system for the Maari FPSO offshore New Zealand have been completed on schedule and within budget.

However, repair of the water injection line has been deferred to December following a request from the work boat operator.

A multi-well work-over campaign continues at the Maari field. Additional perforation works have lifted production from the MR8A well to around 1,600 b/d, and a similar workover should follow on the MN1 well in late August.

Production continued during the mooring intervention, but some wells had to be shut-in for short durations for operational reasons, resulting in daily gross production of 9,000-13,000 b/d during 2Q.

Once water injection is reinstated, production should be enhanced due to resumed pressure support for key producers, and following completion of the various programs output should stabilize at around 12,000 b/d.

In the Santos-operated Sampang PSC in the Madura Strait offshore Indonesia (Cue 15%), output from the Oyong and Wortel fields during 2Q was 907 b/d and 66 MMcf/d.

Studies are under way to optimize recovery and extend gas production from both fields. Santos is finalizing a project that could prolong field life by two years or more.

As part of this initiative, the partners are assessing exploration targets.
