TEHRAN, IranIran’s Research Center of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) and Paris-based IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) have signed a memorandum of understanding, according to news service Shana.

This concerns cooperation in upstream and downstream research in fields including study of reservoirs, enhanced oil recovery, gas sweetening, and emission of pollutants.

IFPEN’s Didier Houssin said: “During the talks that we had, we concluded that the two sides have similar challenges in petroleum industry research and we hope such challenges will be solved by mutual interactions between the two sides.”

Many of Iran’s oil fields are complex, and the two parties plan to focus in particular on EOR solutions for boosting recovery, he added.
