AAL oil test delivers strong flow rates offshore Indonesia

NORTH SYDNEY, AustraliaSantos has completed a drillstem test (DST) on the G Sand reservoir at the AAL-4XST1 appraisal well in the Natuna Sea, offshore Indonesia.

According to partner AWE, the DST, performed by the jackup Raniworo in 72 m (236 ft) of water, delivered an averaged stabilized flow of 828 b/d of oil on a 64/64-in. choke over a nine-hour period.

Results exceeded pre-drill expectations and were 58% higher than previous G-sand tests at the AAL-3X well (525 b/d).

The DST was conducted over a 3.5-m (11.5-ft) perforated interval in the side track wellbore, assisted by an electrical submersible pump.

Wellsite measurements indicate the G-sand oil has gravity of 10.7° API at 60°F (15.6°C), consistent with previous samples from AAL-3X.

AWE’s analysis of the wireline log data indicates an 8-m (26-ft) oil column in the G-Sand and the best-quality reservoir encountered across the field to date. Preparations are already under way for a second DST test on the main AAL field K-sand reservoir.

The Ande Ande Lumut (AAL) oil project comprises the K Sand reservoir (101 MMbbl recoverable) and the underlying G Sand reservoir, which could contain a further 36 MMbbl recoverable.

The appraisal campaign is designed to facilitate work on a development plan for the resource, in conjunction with the already approved K Sand development.
