OGTC details offshore technology goals

ABERDEEN, UK – The new Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) in Aberdeen has appointed a board and is currently recruiting a CEO and other senior posts.

The aim is to establish the city as a global center for innovation and technology development.

One of OGTC’s first priorities is to establish managed solution centers, focused on delivering practical solutions for issues such as managing asset integrity, drilling and well construction, and finding more cost-effective ways of developing smaller and more marginal offshore fields.

Over time, the center will add new test facilities, and support new technology and processes to help them reach the market faster.

Sir Ian Wood, who chairs the new board, said the aim was to create “one of the top three centers globally for innovation and technology development and deployment with a particular focus on subsea production, drilling and wells, mature basin asset management, ensuring decommissioning excellence, and oil and gas data science.”

OGTC is industry-led and supported by the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University, the Oil& Gas Authority, Oil & Gas UK, the Technology Leadership Board, Scottish Enterprise, and ONE.
