Injection measures stave off production decline at Ravva offshore India

GURGAON, India – Production from the Ravva field offshore India has averaged 23,845 boe/d.

Operator Cairn India says a coil tubing campaign and deeper gas lift injection has partly helped to offset the natural decline.

Well stimulation in five water injectors has also helped sustain required water injection rates to support production from oil wells.

In the Krishna Godavari basin offshore eastern India, the company is seeking an extension of the license for block KG-OSN-2009/3, after Phase 1 expired in March.

Interpretation of new seismic has led to identification of four prospects and various smaller leads over different play types.
Cairn, however, plans to exit the permit for Mumbai Offshore block MB-DWN-2009/1 this month, due to a lack of prospectivity.

The company’s exploration license offshore northwest Sri Lanka (SL 2007-01-001) expired last October. Here too, Cairn has completed exit formalities with the government.
In 2012, a Cairn India subsidiary farmed into block 1 in the Orange basin offshore South Africa.

The company and partner PetroSA have finished de-risking of inboard leads and prospects, and are now awaiting a decision on the government’s proposed legislative changes to the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 2002 and the related fiscal regime before committing to the second exploration phase.

Block 1, which covers 19,922 sq km (7,692 sq mi), has an existing gas discovery. The location is along the northwestern maritime border between South Africa and Namibia.
