Det norske progresses two Alvheim subsea tiebacks offshore Norway

Det norske oljeselskap expects its subsea tie-in of the Boakam North accumulation to the Alvheim FPSO in the North Sea to start producing this spring.

Development comprises one trilateral well, drilled by the Transocean Winner semisubmersible in January, and a new subsea manifold connected to the existing Boa manifold. Tie-ins should begin shortly.

Start-up of the Viper-Kobra development, also linked to the FPSO, should occur toward the end of the year. Drilling of the Viper well started in February while the Kobra well was spudded in April.

The partners also approved drilling of an exploratory pilot hole into the Kobra East prospect as part of the Kobra well.

At Ivar Aasen, Det norske’s first major greenfield project as operator, construction of the fixed platform’s topsides in Singapore is 98% complete, and sail-away from Singapore is now scheduled for the first week of June.

This will allow for an extra week of onshore commissioning in order to minimize the offshore carry-over work. Installation of the topsides at the Ivar Aasen location should follow in July.

Construction of the living quarters at Stord in Norway is 98%, with sail-away scheduled for July.

The jackup Maersk Interceptor has so far drilled oil producer wells and one water injector, and drilling will continue through the current quarter. Earlier this month, the rig also drilled two geo-pilot wells in the West Cable area to evaluate potential upside for a future tie-in.

EMAS has laid the subsea power cable between the Edvard Grieg platform and Ivar Aasen.

Det norske is a partner in Statoil’s latest exploration campaign in the Krafla/Askja area, where a well on the Askja South East prospect is under way. Next up will be wells on the Beerenberg and Slemmestad prospects, while the Rovarkula prospect near Ivar Aasen should be drilled in July.
