Woodside seeks to terminate Balnaves FPSO contract

Offshore staff

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Bumi Armada subsidiary Armada Balnaves has received a notice of termination from Woodside Energy Julimar for the Armada Claire FPSO contract.

The vessel has been operating on the Balnaves field offshore northwest Australia since it delivered first oil in August 2014.

Bumi Armada says the notice is not valid, and is either tantamount to a cancellation for convenience or a repudiation of the contract by Woodside – in which case, the contractor says it is entitled to compensation.

The contractor says it plans to enforce its rights, including initiating legal proceedings against Woodside.
