RIO DE JANEIRO Petrobras and PetroRio have announced the termination of the purchase and sale agreement for the acquisition of the 20% stake in the Bijupirá and Salema fields (BSJA).

According to PetroRio, this decision resulted from Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda.’s termination of the purchase and sale agreement for the 80% stake in BJSA on Feb. 16, 2016.

Located in the Campos basin in water depths between 480 and 850 m (1,574 and 2,788 ft), production from the fields averages 22,000 b/d of oil and gas and 325,000 cm/d (11.5 MMcf/d) of associated gas, equivalent to 24,000 boe/d. The oil extracted from the fields is light oil (from 28° to 31° API).
