Partner sought for nearshore UK North Sea license

DUBLIN, Ireland – Arenite Petroleum is leading a farm-out process for a promote license in the UK southern North Sea, according to partner Europa Oil & Gas.

The concession, covering block 41/24, just offshore the resort of Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast, was awarded under the UK’s 28th Seaward Licensing Round.

The main focus of investigations during the promote phase is potential prospectivity at Carboniferous and Zechstein intervals.

To date the Carboniferous has largely been overlooked, Europa says, although there are numerous hydrocarbon accumulations in the onshore extension of the Cleveland basin and farther south (onshore) in the East Midlands.
