SAN DONATO MILANESE, ItalyEni has completed the production test of Zohr 2X, the first appraisal well of the deepwater Zohr gas discovery, in the Shorouk block offshore Egypt.

During the test, 120 m (394 ft) of the reservoir were opened to production. The well, constrained by surface facilities, delivered up to 44 MMcf/d.

The company estimates the well could deliver up to 250 MMcf/d (46,000 boe/d) in production configuration. It plans to drill three more appraisal wells this year.

The company adds that the onshore gas treatment plant construction works have started and the bids for the offshore activities have launched and are nearly completed.

Eni, through IEOC, holds 100% stake of Shorouk license. Operations are being conducted by Petrobel, which is a joint venture between IEOC and the state partner Egyptian General Petroleum Corp.
