LIMASSOL, CyprusSonga Offshore has taken delivery of Songa Encourage, the third of four new Cat D semisubmersibles built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.

The rig is currently outside Angola and heading toward Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, before sailing to Norway.

Songa Enabler, the final rig in the series, is expected to be delivered to Songa Offshore in late March.

As for the two Cat D rigs working for Statoil, Songa Equinox resumed operations last Friday after a period of BOP-related downtime. Songa Endurance too experienced BOP equipment failure while performing a final test on location early in January, but following repairs the rig was back on operating rate last week.
