Falkland partners postpone Chatham well

Offshore staff

LONDONPremier Oil has served notice to Ocean Rig UDW that it is terminating a contract with the semisubmersible Eirik Raude with immediate effect.

The rig has drilled various exploratory and appraisal wells offshore the Falkland Islands over the pat year, two of which led to commercial discoveries.

The final planned well in the current campaign on the Chatham prospect in the North Falkland basin will now be deferred until the offshore Sea Lion project pre-development program begins.

Premier cited numerous material operational issues with the rig during the term of the contract as the reason for the termination.
