CHENNAI, IndiaMcDermott International Inc. has signed a long-term exclusive agreement to cooperate on subsea projects offshore eastern India with L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro.

David Dickson, McDermott’s president and CEO, said the cooperation would leverage McDermott’s track record in subsea engineering, procurement, and installation, shortly to be boosted by delivery of the Derrick Lay Vessel 2000, and the strategically-located LTHE fabrication site and spoolbase in Kattupalli, close to Chennai.

Subramanian Sarma, CEO and managing director of LTHE, said this should lead to “an optimized and reliable EPCI solution for emerging deepwater projects in India.”

In December, the two companies were jointly awarded an engineering, procurement, commissioning and installation (EPCI) contract for the deepwater greenfield Vashishta and S1 development off eastern India.
