Jubilee turret inspection identifies bearing issue

Offshore staff

LONDONTullow Oil plans a change to operating procedures for the FPSO serving the Jubilee field offshore Ghana.

This follows an inspection of the turret area by the equipment supplier SOFEC, which revealed a potential issue with the turret bearing.

As a precaution, additional operating procedures are being implemented to monitor the bearing and reduce the vessel’s degree of rotation.

SOFEC will conduct further offshore examinations and will work with Tullow to determine further measures. Tullow stresses that oil production and gas export will continue from the field as normal.
