JDR umbilicals to service offshore Middle East production systems

Offshore staff

HARTLEPOOL, UK – McDermott Middle East has contracted JDR to supply umbilicals for two projects offshore the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

One order calls for three umbilicals with a combined length of 9 km (5.6 mi), while the other is for seven umbilicals with a total length of 3.5 km (2.2 mi).

All will incorporate thermoplastic hoses and electrical cables, providing hydraulic control and electrical signalling to subsea isolation valves.

They will be used to operate isolation valves in flowlines containing hydrocarbons, should an emergency situation arise within an offshore production system, and to monitor and verify valve closure.

JDR’s scope covers engineering, design, and manufacture of hardware including topsides umbilical termination units, pull-in heads, hang-off bodies, and umbilical termination assemblies.

Delivery is scheduled for 4Q 2016.
