Dual-lift capability for Libra FPSO crane

GDANSK, PolandProtea is supplying a swivel maintenance crane for an FPSO undergoing conversion to perform an extended-well test offshore Brazil.

OneSubsea placed the order via Protea’s partner Westcon. The crane will be delivered to the yard in Horsøy, Norway, for installation on the Libra field FPSO.

Project manager Magdalena Dziebor said: “The successful maintenance of a complex swivel stack requires a bespoke crane tailored for the purpose.

“This crane has a dual-lift system with 20-ton SWL and 70-ton SWL, and also an integral skidding winch to allow the safe and efficient completion of a wide range of maintenance operations.”

The crane, fully certified by ABS, has completed a factory acceptance test at Protea’s production facility in Kluczbork, southern Poland.
