Decommissioning planning under way for Chinguetti offshore Mauritania

Offshore staff

LONDON – Oil production from the Chinguetti field offshore Mauritania will cease by year-end, according to Premier Oil.

Output has declined steadily due to natural decline from the existing wells, and the low oil price has led to negative cash flow.

The partners will begin abandonment operations next year. Currently they are finalizing field decommissioning plans for submission to Mauritania’s government for the Chinguetti field and the previously relinquished Banda and Tiof discoveries.
