ZURICH, Switzerland – National Petroleum Construction Co. (NPCC) has contracted ABB to supply electrical and telecommunication systems for ADMA-OPCO’s Al Nasr full field development offshore Abu Dhabi.
Value of the orders is around $18 million.
NPCC needs the systems to assist operation of seven normally unmanned wellhead towers 130 km (80.8 mi) northwest of Abu Dhabi City.
The power management equipment will be designed to integrate all components of the electrical system, enabling remote operators to control the network safely and efficiently, ABB says.
An intelligent asset management system for predictive maintenance should reduce operating costs and extend service life, cutting the risk of failures and/or unexpected shutdowns.
ABB’s 11 kV and 6.6 kV air-insulated and low voltage switchgear will continually provide data to verify and ensure safety, availability and reliability, while the fully integrated telecommunication system should ensure internal and external communication and field security for the full-field complex.
The main features include electronic personnel tracking, a camera system, radar, public address and general alarm systems, access control, a telephone system, radios, and a transmission system between platforms. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of this year.
ABB has worked on the project from conceptual through front-end engineering and design and now the construction phase. Its scope includes supervision of installation and commissioning.
