OSLO, NorwayMultiClient Geophysical (MCG) has completed acquisition of part of the Maximus 2D multi-client seismic survey offshore Mexico.

This covered the six blocks to be offered under the country’s first deepwater bid round in the prospective Salinas basin.

The full survey will comprise around 19,000 km (11,806 mi) of 2D seismic data, and will also take in all blocks included in the Mexican National Hydrocarbons Commission’s five-year plan for deepwater license rounds in the same basin.

MCG expects a fully processed dataset to become available next month. According to CEO Tom Wolden, it will also tie in data from 20 wells.

Currently the seismic vessel is acquiring regional lines for Maximus outside the bid round blocks.
