SINGAPOREKeppel FELS has delivered Halul, its latest KFELS B Class jackup, to Gulf Drilling International (GDI) in Qatar.

This was the fifth rig of this design for this customer. Features include larger spud cans for reduced bearing pressure; expanded operational coverage in more places, especially in sea beds with soft soil; the capability to drill wells through 30,000 ft (9,144 m) with a cantilever that can skid out 70 ft (21 m) from the edge of the hull to drill wells; offline stand building capabilities; 7,500-psi (517-bar) mud pumps; and accommodation for 150 crew members.

GDI has options for two more KFELS B Class jackups for delivery in 2018 and 2019.

Sister rigs Dukhan and Al Zubarah are operating for Qatar Petroleum while Al Khor is working for Shell.

Recently, Keppel’s joint venture shipyard in Qatar Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine also delivered a self-propelled and self-elevating liftboat to GDI.
