BW to market North Sea Athena FPSO

Offshore staff

OSLO, NorwayBW Offshore and Ithaca Energy have agreed to demobilize the FPSO BW Athena next month.

Late last year Ithaca revealed it would cease oil production from the Athena field in the Moray Firth area of the UK North Sea.

BW Offshore says the vessel has had an uptime of 98% since first oil in May 2012.

BW Athena, which has oil processing capacity of 28,000 b/d, is now being marketed for new opportunities.

Elsewhere, BW Offshore has secured a one-year extension from AWE for its lease and operation contract for another floater on the Umuroa field offshore New Zealand.

The firm period now runs to 4Q 2017.
