HOUSTON Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has awarded McDermott International Inc. a subsea umbilical and flowline installation contract for Phase II of the deepwater Caesar/Tonga field development in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Phase II is being developed as a subsea tieback to the Anadarko-operated Constitution spar in Green Canyon blocks 726 and 727. The new development is in about 5,000 ft (1,524 m) of water.

The scope covers project management; engineering, fabrication, and installation of two 7,700-ft (2,347-m) long pipe-in-pipe insulated rigid flowlines terminated by pipeline end terminations on either end; installation of one subsea manifold and associated jumpers; installation of a 72,000-ft (21,946-m) long subsea control umbilical and associated flying leads; and pre-commissioning.

McDermott’s operating center in Houston has commenced the overall project management and engineering. The pipe-in-pipe flowlines are expected to be assembled and fabricated at its spoolbase facility in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Offshore installation is expected to be completed in late 2016 by the Lay Vessel 105, its deepwater rigid reel-lay vessel, and by the North Ocean 102, its deepwater flexible lay vessel, which is expected to complete the umbilical installation and subsea construction scope of work.
