Aker Solutions secures two studies for Åsgard offshore mid-Norway

Offshore staff

FORNEBU, NorwayStatoil has awarded Aker Solutions a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the tie-in of the Trestakk field to the Åsgard A production vessel in the Norwegian Sea.

Aker also netted a concept study order for a separate project targeting future production from Åsgard A at lower well pressures.

The contract includes options for FEED and engineering, procurement, construction and installation services.

Earlier, Aker Solutions announced measures to streamline its Norwegian maintenance, modifications and operations business, creating one regional as opposed to the previous four.

Depending on future work levels, up to 900 permanent positions could be affected at the company’s facilities in Stavanger, Bergen, Kristiansund, Trondheim, Tromsø, and Sandnessjøen as well as offshore.

The company has already cut around 1,300 permanent and temporary positions in its Norwegian MMO business since July 2014 to adjust to the market slowdown.
