Yard improvements lead to increased rig traffic for Lamprell

SHARJAH, UAELamprell currently has a record seven jackups under construction at its Hamriyah yard in the UAE.

This was made possible, the fabricator says, following recent optimization measures at the yard under “Project Evolution,” due to be completed early next year.

This month the yard’s panel line has achieved its full run-rate of six panels a day.

Demand for rig refurbishment has been subdued compared to last year, but there is a growing need for rig stacking, with eight rigs currently located across Lamprell’s various yards.

Recently the company and its largest client, the National Drilling Co. of Abu Dhabi, agreed to extend two outstanding options and one new one for jackup rigs to the end of 1Q 2016.
