Total to drill first well on southern Norway license

OSLO, Norway – Total has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the southern Norwegian Sea.

The jackup Maersk Gallant will drill well 1/5-5, the first on production license 618 which was awarded under Norway’s APA 2011 round.

The well location is close to the median line with UK waters, north of the Flyndre field and around 40 km (25 mi) northwest of Ekofisk.
