RIO DE JANEIROPetrobras has completed two formation tests on a well on the Carcará Norte structure in the presalt Santos basin.

Well 3-SPS-105 well was drilled 4.6 km (2.8 mi) north of the Carcará discovery (well 4-SPS-86B) in a water depth of 2,070 m (6,791 ft). It reached a final depth of 6,338 m (20,794 ft) in basaltic rocks.

Productivity from the two tests was on a par with the best producing wells in the presalt layer, Petrobras adds, with good quality 31º API oil.

Analysis of fluid and pressure, combine with test results from the discovery well and the Carcará Noroeste well (3-SPS-104DA) suggest it is a single oil accumulation.
