PERTH, AustraliaWoodside Energy has contracted Neptune Marine Services to provide deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) services for a pipeline route survey for the Greater Enfield development offshore northwest Australia.

The location is 40 km (25 mi) offshore in a water depth of roughly 900 m (2,953 ft).

Neptune will deploy its Bluefin 21 AUV survey platform to collect high-resolution multi beam echo sounder (MBES), side scan sonar (SSS) and sub bottom profiler (SBP) data.

The survey will compile seabed and near-seabed shallow geological information for engineering studies to support front-end engineering and design.

Recently, Neptune started a geophysical/light geotechnical survey program for Shell offshore northern Australia. This includes a site survey of the Crux gas field and a 160-km (99.4-mi) route survey between Crux and the Prelude field, in water depths ranging from 90-280 m (295-918 ft).

It involves use of a high resolution MBES, SSS, and SBP data on-board the Mermaid Investigator offshore supply vessel.
