The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin drilled well 16/1-25 S in 106 m (348 ft) of water in license PL338C.
The location was on the southwestern flank of the Utsira High, 3 km (1.8 mi) south of the 2009 Edvard Grieg South discovery, and 6 km (3.7 mi) south of the main Edvard Grieg field complex that started production earlier this month.
The well encountered a 30-m (98-ft) gross oil column in porous granitic basement. Pressure data and oil type indicate the petroleum system is in communication with Edvard Grieg South.
A drillstem test flowed 265 b/d of oil through a 36/64-in. choke. Lundin plans further studies to incorporate all the findings and determine future work, including potential drilling of an extended-reach well from the Edvard Grieg platform and an associated long-term production test.
Lundin estimates the contingent resource range for Rolvsnes, based on natural depletion drive, and Edvard Grieg South discovery at 3-16 MMboe, although there is possible upside in a more extensive fracture network, plus secondary recovery potential.
If this upside is included, the resource estimate rises to 10-46 MMboe.
