Fugro to assess conditions at deepwater oil field development offshore Guyana

HOUSTON – Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd., an ExxonMobil affiliate, has contracted Fugro for survey services at the deepwater Liza oil field development offshore Guyana.

The company will acquire, process, and analyze high-quality AUV multibeam bathymetry, side scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler data, as well as environmental and geological/geotechnical samples, providing seabed and shallow sub-seabed information to support the initial development of offshore structures in the field. The survey will cover an area of approximately 640 sq km (247 sq mi) in depths reaching 2,800 m (9,187 ft).

Discovered in May 2015, the well encountered more than 295 ft (90 m) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs in the Stabroek block of the Liza field in the Guyana-Suriname basin.
