Clariant to furnish Peregrino chemical needs offshore Brazil

Offshore staff

HOUSTONStatoil has awarded Clariant a four-year contract to provide all chemicals used in the production process to treat oil, water, and gas from the Peregrino field offshore Brazil.

The contract is extendable by up to 10 years. Clariant’s scope includes associated laboratory analysis and technical support services.

Use of chemical products is critical in the oil production process for meeting production targets, complying with crude oil specifications and yielding cleaner produced water for discharge or reinjection.

Peregrino started production in April 2011 and currently delivers around 90,000 b/d. The field is 85 km (53 mi) offshore in the Campos basin in a water depth of around 100 m (328 ft) in licenses BMC-7 and BMC-47.

Statoil operates in partnership with Sinochem.
