Tullow commissions 2D seismic survey offshore Jamaica

LONDONTullow Oil has awarded a 2D seismic acquisition contract to cover the Walton Mourant basin offshore Jamaica.

This follows completion of a successful bathymetry and drop core survey earlier in the year.

Off Suriname, a 4,000-sq km (1,544-sq mi) 3D seismic program was completed in September over the company’s operated block 54.

Subsequently it farmed out 20% of the block to Noble Energy for a carry, with Tullow retaining a 30% operating interest.

The partners are reviewing results of the seismic program ahead of selecting future drilling prospects. Initial indications suggest the Araku prospect has potential.
